STUDENT LEADERSHIP ROLES :
Ōtamarākau School is a Year 0 to 8 full primary school where every child is known, valued, and supported from the day they start until they finish Year 8. We are proud to be a small school with a big heart, where our tamariki are encouraged to give things a go, grow in confidence, and enjoy learning.
More than 98% of our Year 6 students choose to stay with us for their intermediate years. Our Year 7 and 8 students have many opportunities to lead, support younger students, and represent our kura with pride.
We believe our tamariki achieve their best when whānau are part of their learning journey. We love welcoming families into our kura and working alongside them to help every child thrive.

Our leadership opportunities extend beyond our senior prefects. Students can also take on important roles within our Peer Mediators, PE shed monitors, ICT team and bus team. These groups give our tamariki the chance to contribute in meaningful ways, support others, and take responsibility across different areas of school life. Whether it’s helping resolve playground issues, managing sports equipment, supporting digital learning, or looking after our bus routines, our students take pride in making a positive difference every day.
