Uniform/Dress
Students are expected and encouraged to take pride in their general appearance. The correct uniform should be worn at all times. If this is not possible a written explanation must be provided.
The purpose of the uniform is :
  1. To enhance the sense of identity, pride and belonging to the Otamarakau School community.
  2. To have student clothing that is functional, accessible, equitable and cost effective.
  3. To comply with the Community Survey.
The uniform is ordered from School.
Used uniforms may be available from the school.
During colder months, students may wear a navy skivvy or thermal under their polo shirts.
Children may wear non-uniform rain coats or jackets.
Jewellery is not encouraged.
Long hair should be tied back.
If there is a breach in the dress code, a letter and a copy of the school uniform policy is sent to the parents, giving them time to fix the issue. If there is still a breach in the dress code after two weeks, there is a phone call from the teacher. Following this it is referred to the principal, who makes an appointment to meet with the parents.
