The Haunted House

Although it happened in an instant it felt like it took forever. Time stood still. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, right in front of my very eyes…let me take you back to where it all began.

It all started when my teacher said that this year we could go on school camp if we fundraised with Cadbury chocolates by going around to people's houses to ask if they would like to buy some.

So after school that very day I went to every house in town to fundraise. I'd almost finished and had gone down every street and road except one. The haunted house. Children never play on that street and everybody knows not to go down and every time you look at it, it gives you the creeps. But I was feeling brave, and needed the money. So I did.

I stepped into the tiny driveway that seemed like a deserted alley way.  Instantly I felt a cold shiver creep up my back right up to the tip of my head. Each step I took was more nerve racking. Ancient leaves were crunching under my roman sandals. Finally I reached the door of the antique house at the end of the path.

I rang the doorbell. No one answered. I rang again. Once again the house replied with the same answer. I was starting to get curious about this house. I decided to open the door. I turned the rusty door handle and as soon as I touched it, it seemed like it would crumble to bits. I forced it open and the house was pitch black inside.

I peered in and suddenly out from the darkness leaped a huge midnight black dog. I dropped the box of chocolates and they landed with a bang. I was stunned. Then out shuffled a crippled old man. He had a freaky look on his face that was like dark thunder. He said to me "I'll buy 1 bar of chocolate please."
